Obituary for Melvin Kennard Brown Jr.

Melvin Kennard Brown Jr. was born on June 17, 1942 in Harford, Maryland to the late Melvin Kennard Brown Sr. and Isabel Brown. After a lengthy illness he passed away peacefully at home on August 30, 2019

Melvin grew up and was educated in the Maryland school system. He graduated from Havre De Grace Consolidated High School in 1960. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in 1961; and served for over ten years. He later joined and served active duty with the Army National Guards, and was a unit member in the Army Reserve. He served as a Master Sergeant before retiring in 2003. He received a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal w/3*, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal w/4*, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device, and a Meritorious Unit Citation.

Melvin was also a member of the American Bowling Congress League of Union County Bowling Association for many years.

Melvin K. Brown met and married Dorothy M. Simms on July 20, 1963. To this union three children were born. Marriage ended in divorce in 1986.

Later Melvin met and shared his life with Ann Brown (Deceased), and her three children. They blended their families together.

Melvin K. Brown and his present wife of 22 years were married on June 22, 1997. To this union a stepson was united and a son was born.

Melvin was preceded in death by his stepson, Calvin L. Brown, grandson, Ishmel Bowers, and great grandson, Jayden Frith.

Melvin leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Lisa M. Hall-Brown; his four children, Melvin Kennard Brown 3rd, Regina Brown, Laurie Brown (fiancé, Sloan Richardson) and Quincey Oliver Brown; three stepchildren, Margo P. Brown (Welford Moore), Audrey C. Ratcliffe (William Ratcliffe) and Quran H. Hall; twelve grandchildren, Porscha Brown, Jerome Brown, Stephan Brown, Tatiana Mallard (Ron Mallard), Rory Dixon (Amad Dixon), Tiffany Ponton, Shakeil Bowers (Ayesha Bowers), Rakeima Mitchell (Dietrick Mitchell), Rasheedah Brown, Joy Hamilton (Darryl Hamilton), Quran H Hall Jr. and Naomi Hall; two sisters, Carole Brown and Iantha Brown; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
