Obituary for Shatesha Alnisa Cooper

Shatesha Alnisa Cooper was born on October 18, 1978 to the late Linda Cooper and the late William Thomas Williams. “Tesha”, as she was fondly called, is the third born of five siblings and was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. She attended the Newark Public Schools where she graduated from West Side High School in 1997.

Tesha was always driven to have a career, and she had a deep passion for Childcare. She worked in the Newark Public School System and at several daycare centers as a Teacher’s Assistant for many years. She was employed by Rutgers University of Newark, New Jersey for the years she worked at Thirteenth Avenue School. Education was a big part of her life. She attended Essex County College and Drake College of Business. She was presently attending Pillar College in Montclair where she was to receive her CDA as a Certified Teacher’s Assistant this June. She was also a student of The Tyrannus School of Ministry where she was working to receive her General Bible Degree.

Tesha received Jesus Christ as Lord of her life; and in November 2008, she became a member of Ernest Leonard Ministries’ Repairer of the Breach Fellowship. She served in the Ministry of Helps as a Greeter, and served with ELM Marketplace (the Culinary Team), Joseph’s Storehouse and the Maintenance Team. “Helpful” was her middle name. Tesha had a bright smile and was a very hardworking, caring and outspoken woman. She often said that her strong dedication and determination to achieve and excel came from her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Shatesha leaves to cherish loving memories of her: two daughters, Makylah Stewart and Arieanna Cooper; four siblings: Laquanna Cooper, Kwan Cooper, Siddekgra Williams and Jimmy Cooper; her uncle, Linwood Cooper; her aunt, Jeanette Cooper; her two brothers-in-law, Charles Curry and Clarence Ingram; her two sisters-in-law, Sharonda Cooper and Sian Robertson; her nieces: Keyera, Tymera, Shariyah, and Layla; her nephews: Tahlil, Kwan Jr., Zahree, Zahmir, Kyon and Alikhan; and a host of other relatives and friends.
