Obituary for Elsie Todd

Elsie Todd was born on March 18, 1930 in Newark, New Jersey. She was the 7th child out of 8 children born to Dorothy White and Charles Eldridge Bernard.

Elsie was united with the Franklin St. John United Methodist Church when she was a child and attended Sunday School and Bible study faithfully. She was educated in Newark and a graduate of South Side High School.

As a young woman Elsie Todd undertook the work of a faithful servant and participated in many church activities especially those involving youth. She was a faithful, loving and compassionate servant of God, Family and Church. She was united in Holy Matrimony to William Todd for 44 years until his death in 2017. She was a Woman of Substance, a Force of Nature, a Real Lady.

Four Sisters preceded her in death, Ms. Bernice LittleJohn, Ms. Rita Tyler, Ms. Jean Bernard, and Ms. Shirley Bernard. In addition Three Brothers also preceded her in death, Charles (Buddy) Bernard, Edward Bernard, Donald Bernard. Elsie Todd leaves to Celebrate and Honor her Life a host of cousins and grand cousins, a host of nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Many dedicated extended family and friends. Always an aunt never a Mother was not her legacy, she was truly an Aunt and Mother to countless people too numerous to mention. Yet her greatest Legacy was that she was a Child of God who lived a life of Selfless Service.
