Obituary for Donald William Scott

Donald “Popo” William Scott was born on January 1, 1970 to Donnie Williams and Brendolyn Washington in Newark, NJ. During his formative years, Donald would live in Maryland, Texas, and California. Returning to New Jersey as an adolescent, he would complete his education in the Newark Public School system.

Donald’s true joy and happiness was evoked from being around family. Beginning in early adolescence, Donald was known for always protecting and caring for his younger brother, Bert. As an adult, in recent years, he would take time off from work to care for his ailing brother, Kelvin. Out of this, an unshakable alliance and bond was forged with his brothers that remained until his passing. Although of a different generation, his nieces, Mylaysia and Tatyana, would follow him anywhere. Donald’s proudest moment came when his son, Donald Jr., was born.

After meeting his beloved wife, Mary Fulton, Donald’s family would expand as he became father to Tarad Tolliver, Tamara Tolliver, and Darrell Fulton. Tamara would later give birth to two daughters, De’onnia and De’ajah, who affectionately named him “Popo.” “Popo” was a full-time grandfather taking the girls to school, birthday parties, and helping with homework. Donald Jr. would have a son, Sameer “my man,” rounding out “Popo’s” family.

At the time of his passing, Donald was employed by The Hertz Corporation as a driver. Previous employment included working many years for Cazimir Construction, Newark, NJ.

“Mary is my family; if we are destitute then we are destitute together. If we are prosperous then we are prosperous together. But make no doubt about it, in the end, we are together.” (Donald Scott, January 2018).

Survivors include his wife, Mary Fulton; two sons, Donald Scott, Jr., and Darrell Fulton; one daughter Tamara Tolliver; three grandchildren De'onnia Craft, De'ajah Craft and Sameer Scott; mother Brendolyn Washington; two brothers, Kevin Conic and Bertram Scott; one sister Carol (Darrel) Donald; three uncles Enorris (Veola) Conic, Robert Conic, and Glover Conic; four aunts , Rethel (Bill) Yarbrough , Linda Conic, Bernice Conic, and Stephanie Hall-Conic; 2nd mother, Felicia Jenkins; and special friend, Tyleisha Jenkins. Donald was preceded in death by his father, Donnie Williams; uncle, Ernest Conic; aunt, Renee Conic-Zamilus; and son, Tarad Tolliver.
