Obituary for Charles Henry Alston

Charles Henry Alston was born March 25, 1955 in Charleston S.C. to the late Bertha L. Alston who later married Nathaniel Bailey and relocated to Jersey City, NJ where Charles grew up and attended the Jersey City public school system.

In the early 70s, Charles met his high school sweetheart Wanda Sue Wright. After high school, Charles worked alongside many skilled workers and learned how to do various jobs in the field of carpentry where he continued to work until the time of his death.

Charles had a love for animals. As a young boy, he had a special dog named Dutchess. He was preceded in death by his parrot named Polly. Charles also loved to dance to music from the 70s and 80s. He was always the life of the party doing his favorite dance, “the Bump”.

Charles leaves to cherish his loving memories: his father, Nathaniel Bailey; three children, Tamika Hamilton, Charles Wright and Darrin Wright; two grandchildren, Ewon Wright (Andrea) and Mya Hamilton; one great grandson, Braylon Wright; two brothers, Robert Alston and Darryl Bailey; one sister, Laverne Marable (Carl); and a host of other relatives and friends.

Charles will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
