Mr. William Thomas Mickens was born March 28, 1969 in Newark, NJ to the late Ethelene Mickens and Elmos Thomas Brooks.

William was educated in the City of Newark, NJ and he received his culinary licenses performing with high honors. He was a chef at College Hospital. He loved cooking, football, family and friends. He also loved being around his younger cousins.

William leaves to cherish his memories: three brothers, Tywan (April), Derrick (Jafarja) and Thomas L. Simon of Newark, NJ; one sister, Tammie Simon of Greenwood, SC; grandmother, George Anna Hodge of Sumter, SC; three aunts, Lucinda Virgil Doyle (Craig) of Green Village, SC, Geraldine Mickens Hampton (Elexand) and Angie Hodge Wardell (Tyrone) of Linden, NJ; one uncle, Leezander Mickens (Donella Hardie) of South Plainfield, NJ; and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Ethelene Mickens, father Elmos T. Brooks, and two sisters Yvonne and Tawanna Mickens.
