Obituary for Leamon Coley

On Sunday morning, April 29, 2018, God welcomed Leamon Coley home to rest eternally. Leamon’s journey through life began April 12, 1944 in the Saulston Community of Goldsboro, North Carolina, when he was born to the late Cleveland “Jack” Coley and Annie Bell Green Coley. His happy childhood and close relationship with his parents and siblings instilled in him a devotion and dedication to his family.

Leamon, affectionately called “Pap” by his family and friends, received his education in the Wayne County School System and relocated to New Jersey at the age of eighteen. While in New Jersey, he met and married Bertha L. Godwin.

He was employed by FRC Electrical Industries in Murray Hill, New Jersey and Pathmark Supermarket in Union, New Jersey, both at which he was a dedicated worker for over twenty-five years. Pap was a very jovial person who enjoyed meeting his many friends at Dunkin Donuts. Pap also had a kind spirit that always inspired him to help a friend or relative in need.

Pap was preceded in death by two brothers, James “Pete” Coley and Kennon Flowers; and four sisters, Irene “Tony: Morrisey, Geraldine “Muh” Spruill, Doris Sampson and Occie Forte.

Those left to cherish Leamon’s loving memory are: his wife, Bertha L. Coley of the home; one daughter, Latonia D. Curry of Union, New Jersey; two grandsons, Devin Curry and Julian Vasquez of Union, New Jersey; four sisters, Helen Coley, Vivian (Edward) Jones, Carolyn (Leslie) Yelverton of Goldsboro, North Carolina and his twin sister, Leora (Elmer) Thomas of Mary Esther, Florida; two brothers-in-law, Daniel Sampson of Bronx, New York and James Earl Caldwell of Elizabeth, New Jersey; a special home town friend, Nathaniel Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

This Online Memorial has been created to commemorate the life of Christine Ford Sarvis. You are invited to add a Tribute in her memory. Please sign "Guestbook" below to add your own memories, reflections, thoughts or condolences.
