Obituary for Harry L. Hargrove

As the sun rises so sets the life of Harry “The Hammer” Hargrove.
On Saturday September 1, 2018, God said “Come unto me all ye-that Labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Matthew: 11:28.  

In a peaceful moment, daddy was called and left this old world and ended the journey that began on November 28, 1935. Born (in Henderson N.C., the youngest of 8 children) to the late Frank and Lillian Hargrove; he was preceded in death by 2 Sisters: Rosetta and Betty Lou, 4 brothers: James, Daniel, Dave, and Anderson Hargrove. As the Hargrove family moved from North Carolina to Elizabeth, NJ; Harry was educated in the Union County School System.  At an early age, with a desire to serve his country, he joined the United States Army.  After leaving the military with an Honorable Discharge, Harry was a man of many trades.  Harry drove the Bus for New Jersey Transit and eventually started driving trucks for the Match Factory where he met and married Annie Johns and to this union were born 4 beautiful children, Harry Jerome Jr., Annette, Christopher and Amanda.   Being the good Father and provider that he was, Harry looked to start his own business as an independent contractor.  He started the H & H Drywall Construction Company which was a success for over 30 years.   Being a business owner allowed Harry the opportunity to teach his children and nephews the construction trade and eventually hire them for employment with him once they were grown.    

 Later, Harry married Ernestine Pate.  Being a proud father, Harry Joined his daughter’s church: The Symphony of Praise Church in Cherry Hill, NJ.  Harry loved Gospel music and Western movies. As time went on, Harry went to live with his Grandson Omar Hargrove who took great care of Harry.   Harry was preceded in death by both his wives, and he leaves to mourn 1 brother Joseph Hargrove of Hillside, N.J., and 5 Children, Lily Rose Vaughn of Brooklyn, N.Y., Harry Jerome Hargrove of Maplewood, NJ, Annette Hargrove-Grace of Newark, DE, Christopher Hargrove of Willingboro, NJ and Amanda Hargrove-Tyler of Magnolia Delaware.  He leaves behind 1 daughter in law, 2 sons-in-law, 17 Grandchildren, 19 Great-grandchildren and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends.
