Obituary for Barbara Jean Clark

Barbara Jean Clark was born February 15, 1945 in Panama City, Florida, to the Late Lawson Martin and Ora Jordan.

Barbara was educated in the Florida School System until she relocated to New Jersey. She later graduated from Westside High School in Newark, NJ. Barbara met and married Robert L. Clark Sr. on October 30, 1961. Barbara worked as a barmaid until she found employment at H&G Industries; where she worked faithfully until early retirement due to illness.

Barbara accepted Christ as her Personal Savior later in life, but she made sure her children knew the Lord and sent them to church EVERY Sunday! She united with the Greater Level Hill Baptist Church until later uniting with the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. T. Van B. Rhoe. Barbara served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher in the Nursery.

Barbara loved spending time with her family, cooking dinner, attending BBQ’S, listening to “Oldies but Goodies”, and watching Westerns on television. She was always excited about traveling, as long as planes weren’t involved.

Barbara was a loving and caring woman who loved children. She raised over 50 children along with her very own. Her home was always open to everyone; whether it was to sleep over, have a home cooked meal, or just to hang out.

While doing what she loved, spending time with her family; Barbara heard the voice of her Savior and entered into eternal rest on June 23, 2018 in Edgewood, Maryland. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Clark Sr.; parents, Lawson Martin and Ora Jordan; step-father, Lawrence Jordan; daughter, Cynthia Clark; and son, Trevor Clark.

Barbara leaves to cherish and celebrate her legacy: her children, Robert Clark (Rose), Juanita Harris (Tyrone), Melanie Thompson, Latiyah Clark (Sam), Kiena Laboo (Malik), Samone Wright (Kevin), Alnisa, Tyquan, Tysheem, and Samuel Clark, Malcolm McDonald, and Dymanique Jordan. Her sisters, Gail Jordan, Patricia, Sharon, and Stasia Martin, Betty Lowe, and Evelyne Moore. Her brother, David Jordan (Gwendolyne). Her favorite cousin, Deloise Andrews. Twenty-five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and friends.
