Obituary for Ann Beatrice Allen

Ann Beatrice Allen, the youngest of six children, was born on January 5, 1945, in Smithfield VA, to Blanch Piccott Edwards and William Edwards. She departed June 29, 2018 at the age of 73 yrs. Old.

Ann was relocated from Virginia to Newark, NJ at the age of three after the passing of her mother. She attended South Side High School to later find her calling in the healthcare field as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. She graduated nursing school and became a nursing assistant at Presbyterian Hospital in Newark, NJ. She also became a Home Health Aide until she began working as a state employee at Woodbridge Developmental Center in Woodbridge, NJ until retiring in 2006.

Ann Beatrice Allen later relocated to Easton, PA in 2007, to join her two youngest children, Dawn and Elliott Allen until the day of her passing.

Ann Beatrice Allen will be joining her mother, Blanch Piccott Edwards and Father, William Edwards and her three siblings Virginia, Carrie and Steven in paradise. She is survived by two siblings; Dorothy Edwards and William Herbert Edwards, as well as her many nieces and nephews.

Ann was also survived by six children, Anthony Allen, Benny Allen, T’wana Allen, Kelly Howard, Dawn Allen and Elliott Allen, all whom which blessed her with twenty-three grandchildren from which she had ten great-grandchildren.

Ann Beatrice Allen will be mourned missed dearly by many family and friends. She was a sweet, caring and compassionate and had a heart of gold. She was so witty and sharp. Her sense of humor was borderline comedian. She had this boisterous laugh that could fill up a room and your heart.

She loved horror movies, as she called them “Spookies” and her classic R&B music. Her favorite store was Walmart. Whenever there she knew exactly where the fried chicken was and had to be sure to buy some. She couldn’t go a week without some good ole fried chicken. She also loved to go to New York City. What Ann enjoyed the most was sharing time with her grand and great-grandchildren. If no one else, you knew Ann would be there for them and anyone whom which she loved.

Ann Beatrice Allen was a very strong woman, who had overcome many struggles in her life without one complaint. She never lost her good spirit or hope, which is what enabled her to grow into the beautiful woman that we all grew to love. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
